SAMA-nominated artist Lucille Slade, fondly known as The Kimberley Diamond, took audiences back home with the release of her latest music video, “Die Y”, a heartfelt celebration of Kimberley, its culture and the remarkable people who continue to make the city shine.

More than just a music video, “Die Y” felt like a love letter to Kimberley. Lucille brought her signature sound together with Kwati, incorporating the intro from Sip ’n Kwati to give the song an unmistakable sense of place. The result was a track that remained deeply rooted in Kimberley while still opening the door for audiences everywhere to connect with its story.

The music video put the spotlight on Kimberley Diamonds making their mark across different industries. Among those featured were acclaimed designer Thebe Magugu, SABC News’ Unathi Batyashe, and Boipelo Mooketsi, the 5FM presenter and Basadi in Music Award winner for Best Radio Presenter.

And that is the heart of “Die Y,” celebrating Kimberley not only for its famous diamond history, but for the diamonds it continued to produce.

Throughout the video, the 053 Kimberley area code became a proud visual and sonic signature, reinforcing the message that Kimberley’s identity travels far beyond its borders. Lucille reminded audiences that some of the talented names they already knew and admired could very well have Kimberley roots.

“Die Y” ultimately becomes a celebration of home, heritage, talent and excellence. It shines a light on the people and culture that make Kimberley special, while giving the city its flowers on a much bigger stage.

The music video was released on YouTube on Friday, 21 August 2026, at 9 AM, marking another chapter in Lucille Slade’s journey of carrying Kimberley with her wherever her music takes her.
