Zanele Potelwa Hosts 2026 SAMAs Alongside Cassper Nyovest at Sun City

Zanele Potelwa Takes Centre Stage at the 2026 SAMAs Alongside Cassper Nyovest

Zanele Potelwa continues to have quite the year.

Fresh from New York, where she sat down with award-winning actress Thuso Mbedu, the award-winning television and radio personality returned home to take on another major moment, hosting the 32nd South African Music Awards (SAMAs) alongside rapper, artist and entrepreneur Cassper Nyovest.

The prestigious awards ceremony took place on Saturday, 15 August, at the Sun City Superbowl in the North West, marking the SAMAs’ return to its original Sun City home.

Under this year’s theme, #SAMA32, The Future Sounds Like Now Now, the ceremony celebrated the country’s vibrant music industry with an evening filled with performances, recognitions, memorable moments and some of South Africa’s biggest names in music.

And for Zanele, the night represented another significant milestone in a journey that has seen her grow within one of South Africa’s most celebrated entertainment platforms.

From walking the SAMAs red carpet as a host, to becoming the voice of God at the awards, and now taking on the main stage as a host, Zanele’s SAMAs journey has been one worth watching. It is also a reflection of the work she has consistently put into her craft.

Sharing the stage with Cassper Nyovest, Zanele brought her signature energy, warmth and professionalism to one of the biggest nights on the South African entertainment calendar.

“I am still so excited! God is really showing off with me, and it was an honour to grace the stage with Cassper. We came a long way with rehearsals, outfit preparations, and much more. I am so grateful to have given South Africa a really great show,” says Zanele.

And then, of course, there were the looks. For a night as significant as this one, Zanele understood the assignment. She stepped onto the SAMAs stage in a series of striking looks from Imprint South Africa, Sihle The Designer, Otiz Seflo, Tailord Black and Hoss By Sass, each bringing something different to her hosting moments throughout the evening.

The looks were brought together by her creative team, with Mr Suave on styling, Lexie’s Royal Touch on makeup, and JozEEst Accessories by ZEE completing the various ensembles with carefully selected accessories.

Beyond the fashion and the spotlight, however, the SAMAs stage represents something bigger for Zanele. Her progression within the awards is a reminder that careers in entertainment are often built one opportunity, one room and one stage at a time.

And Zanele has been steadily owning every room she enters.

With her ability to move seamlessly between radio, television, red carpets and major live events, she continues to establish herself as one of the personalities shaping South Africa’s contemporary media and entertainment landscape.

Her SAMAs journey may have started at the red carpet, but on Saturday night, she was firmly at the centre of the main event.

The 32nd South African Music Awards aired live on SABC 1 on Saturday, 15 August, at 8 PM, bringing #SAMA32 to audiences across the country.

For Zanele Potelwa, another major stage has been conquered, and if this year is anything to go by, there is clearly much more to come.
