AMALANGA AWAFANI EXPANDS ITS STORY WITH SIPHESIHLE VAZI AS DR THOKOZANE JOBE AND MELUSI YENI'S RETURN AS REGINALD GUMEDE
SABC1’s Amalanga Awafani is entering a dramatic new chapter, with buried secrets, broken relationships, and unexpected second chances set to collide as the series welcomes back a familiar face and introduces a new love interest.
As the drama unfolds, Sabelo is fighting to rebuild his music career and repair his relationship with Kenosi, while Stha’s growing celebrity status is pushing her to dream bigger. Meanwhile, Sugarbasin’s increasingly dangerous choices continue to put his family at risk, and the Dumas are forced to confront secrets they have worked hard to keep hidden. But perhaps the biggest shock is still to come.
On Wednesday, 19 August 2026, Melusi Yeni returns as Reginald Gumede, a man everyone believed was dead. His return raises one burning question: did Reginald really die, and where has he been all this time? As he walks back into the lives of his son and the Dumas, old wounds are reopened and long-buried tensions threaten to resurface.
Then, on Monday, 24 August 2026, Siphesihle Vazi joins the series as Dr Thokozane Jobe, a confident, charming, and ambitious medical maverick who initially enters Stha’s life as her doctor. Their relationship soon takes an unexpected turn, with Thokozane becoming a potential love interest and the soft landing Stha never knew she needed. But beneath his polished exterior lies a man who likes to be in control, and audiences will have to question whether his seemingly perfect romance with Stha is everything it appears to be.
Vazi brings extensive television, radio and entertainment experience to the role. Born and bred in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, he has presented SABC1’s Selimathunzi for more than five years and previously hosted the Weekend Gig Guide on Ukhozi FM.

A Season About Second Chances
Season 2 follows former Maskandi stars and millionaires Sabelo and his twin Thembi, whose lives unravel after losing everything in Nquthu and being forced to start over in Johannesburg. Now 60 episodes into the season, Amalanga Awafani continues to explore the reality of falling, getting back up and discovering that starting again is rarely straightforward.
With Reginald’s shocking return, Stha’s evolving relationship with her doctor, Sabelo’s complicated love life and the Dumas’ devastating secrets all coming to a head, the road ahead promises even more twists and revelations.
