Bafana Bafana Return to the FIFA World Cup as S3 Leads SABC’s 2026 Tournament Coverage

Sixteen years after hosting the FIFA World Cup on home soil, South Africa is heading back to football’s biggest stage.

As anticipation builds around Bafana Bafana’s return to the tournament for the first time since 2010, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has announced that S3 will serve as the primary home of FIFA World Cup 2026 coverage, bringing the action to millions of viewers across the country.

In a move aimed at making the tournament as accessible as possible, every Bafana Bafana match will be broadcast on both SABC1 and S3, ensuring that football fans nationwide can rally behind the national team together.

Coverage will be led by familiar faces from SABC Sport, including Andile Ncube, Vusiwe Ngcobo and Thabiso Mosia, who will guide audiences through the tournament with analysis, commentary, and insights from the world’s biggest football spectacle.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 officially kicks off on Thursday, 11 June 2026, with the Opening Ceremony and Build-Up programme airing live on SABC1 and S3 from 18:30 to 21:00.
