Red Bull Symphonic Afro House Comes to SABC 1 After Sold-Out Johannesburg Shows

Not everyone could secure a seat at one of the country’s most anticipated music events. In fact, with tickets selling out and attendance capped at 5,000 guests per night, thousands of South Africans were left hoping for a way to experience the magic of Red Bull Symphonic Afro House, Our Home.

Now, they can.

On Sunday, 14 June 2026 at 19h30, SABC 1 will broadcast Red Bull Symphonic Afro House, Our Home live from Montecasino in Johannesburg, bringing one of the biggest live music productions of the year into homes across South Africa. The show will also be simulcast on SABC Plus.

This year’s edition marks a historic first for Red Bull Symphonic. For the first time since the production launched, two headline artists will share the stage. Afro-house pioneer Sun-El Musician and genre-bending hitmaker Dlala Thukzin will each perform their own catalogues, reimagined and reorchestrated alongside a full symphonic orchestra under the direction of conductor Chad Hendricks.

The result is more than a concert. It is a celebration of South African creativity, a meeting point between electronic music and classical performance, and a reminder of just how far Afro House has travelled.

What started on underground dance floors has become part of the soundtrack of South African life. It is music that carries stories, memories, celebrations, and identity. The theme, Afro House, Our Home, recognises exactly that, a genre born here, shaped here, and embraced by generations who proudly call it their own.

“Red Bull Symphonic has always been about pushing the boundaries of what live music can be. This broadcast partnership with SABC 1 means we can extend that ambition to millions of South Africans who couldn’t be in the room. It’s important because music and the arts are for all. It makes the circle bigger and brings this wonderful sonic offering into the homes of all South Africans,” said Chad Hendricks, conductor for Red Bull Symphonic Afro House, Our Home.

For SABC 1, the partnership represents an opportunity to make world-class entertainment accessible to audiences across the country.

“SABC 1 is intentional about the partnerships it builds. We look for properties that are deeply rooted in South African culture, that reflect how our audiences live, what they love, and who they are. Red Bull Symphonic is exactly that. It is a world-class production that belongs to Mzansi, and we are proud that Red Bull Media House chose SABC 1 as the home for this broadcast,” says Dichaba Phalatse, Marketing Manager: Video Entertainment, SABC 1.

For those who could not be there in person, this is more than a second chance to watch a sold-out show. It is an opportunity to witness a defining moment for South African music from wherever they are.

Red Bull Symphonic Afro House, Our Home airs live on Sunday, 14 June 2026 at 19h30 on SABC 1 and SABC Plus.
