This April, Skeem Saam leans deeper into suspense with the introduction of a character whose presence lingers long after he leaves the room.

Nhlanhla Kunene steps into the role of Amandla Dubazane, a man who, at first glance, embodies prestige and polish. Tailored suits, measured speech, and an effortless confidence place him comfortably among power players. But beneath that refined exterior lies something far more calculated.

Amandla is neither loud nor impulsive; he operates with intention. Every move is calculated, every word deliberate. It’s this quiet precision that makes him as compelling as he is unsettling, the kind of presence that doesn’t demand attention, but commands it, nonetheless.

“The character of Amandla is very controlled and sure of himself. He’s not loud or over the top, but his presence is always felt. There’s a quiet intensity about him that keeps you watching, and I really enjoyed bringing those layers to life,” Shares Kunene.

There’s an ease in the way Amandla navigates spaces, subtly influencing dynamics and shifting power without ever appearing to try. As he crosses paths with familiar faces, the weight of his intentions becomes impossible to ignore and even harder to escape.
