The Vuyo Biyela Foundation is proud to announce not only the highly anticipated Vuyo Biyela Foundation Football Tournament, but also the official launch of the foundation, taking place on Saturday, 25 April 2026, at King Zwelithini Stadium.
This milestone event marks the beginning of a long-term commitment to youth empowerment, mentorship, and community upliftment, using sport as a powerful vehicle for change.

“This is not just about one day,” he shares. “I want to see this grow. I want to see it become a platform where young boys can start their journeys, not just in football, but in life.”
The vision is clear: to create a consistent, structured space where talent is nurtured, discipline is instilled, and opportunity is no longer out of reach.
Beyond football, the event will be an experience, featuring live entertainment and cultural performances, local food vendors, small-business participation, and community engagement activities. Creating a vibrant space where sport, culture, and community intersect.
Founded by acclaimed actor and humanitarian Vuyo Biyela, the foundation is deeply personal in its mission. The foundation seeks to address something often left unspoken: the need for guidance, structure, and positive male influence.
“My dream has always been to help boys grow into responsible, grounded men,” says Biyela. “I understand how important guidance, structure, and opportunity are. Through this foundation, I want to give young boys what many of us didn’t have: a sense of direction, purpose, and belief in what’s possible.”
At its core, the tournament is designed as more than competition; it is a getaway. A structured pathway into professional football where young players are not only seen, but also developed, mentored, and positioned for opportunity.
Biyela envisions a future where the tournament becomes a scouting ground, a place where raw talent from Umlazi and surrounding communities can be elevated to the next level.
From these fields to professional clubs such as AmaZulu FC, Lamontville Golden Arrows, Richards Bay FC… and ultimately, to national and international stages.
