Top Billing Presenter Search 2026: Meet the Five Finalists Competing for a Place on South African Television
South Africa’s search for its next television star has narrowed to five, and each finalist brings a different story, perspective, and kind of magic to the screen.
Top Billing has announced the Top 5 finalists of its 2026 Presenter Search, marking another major milestone in the competition to find fresh talent for one of South Africa’s most recognisable lifestyle television brands.
From thousands of hopefuls across the country to just five contenders, the journey has highlighted the depth of local talent and the many different paths that can lead to a career in front of the camera.
The finalists were selected through an intensive process that assessed their presenting abilities, confidence, versatility, and on-screen presence. Now, as the competition enters its next chapter, the question is no longer simply who can present, but who can connect with audiences and bring the stories behind extraordinary people, places, and experiences to life.
And if their journeys so far are anything to go by, this is a line-up worth paying attention to.
MEET THE TOP 5
Homba Mazaleni
Where sport, science and storytelling meet
Originally from Dutywa in the Eastern Cape, Homba Mazaleni is a presenter, content creator and qualified biokineticist whose journey reflects the power of combining knowledge with ambition.
With three degrees to her name and a place in the Top 5 of Miss South Africa 2023, Homba has built a profile that extends beyond traditional beauty and entertainment spaces. Her interests in sport, wellness and adventure offer a different perspective on lifestyle storytelling, while her growing digital presence allows her to connect with audiences in an authentic way.
Her journey from rural beginnings to the world of sports media is also a reminder that talent can emerge from anywhere. For Homba, the Top Billing opportunity could open another door in a career already shaped by discipline, curiosity, and a willingness to step into new spaces
Talitha Bothma
Turning adversity into purpose
Talitha Bothma’s story is rooted in resilience, reinvention, and the belief that difficult circumstances do not have to determine the direction of your life.
A growth strategist, entrepreneur and speaker, Talitha is the founder of Worth in Motion, an organisation focused on helping people recognise their value and unlock opportunities. Her journey has included growing up in rural South Africa, navigating profound personal loss and rebuilding her life after a serious medical condition affected her hearing and vision.
Her professional experience spans technology, fashion, media and business development across Africa, giving her a broad understanding of people, industries and the opportunities that connect them.
What makes her perspective particularly interesting is how she approaches lifestyle storytelling. For Talitha, the appeal of Top Billing goes beyond beautiful homes, travel and aspirational experiences. It is about understanding the people behind those experiences: their journeys, their ambitions, and the work that goes into building a life.
Karen Mthethwa
A Soweto dream taking centre stage
For Karen Mthethwa, the road to Top Billing has been built on persistence, opportunity and the ability to make her voice heard.
Raised in Soweto, Karen entered the broadcasting industry after winning the YFM presenter search in 2024. What followed was a steady rise through radio, from late-night broadcasting to hosting her own weekday show, The Glow Up.
Her journey speaks to the importance of platforms that give emerging talent the opportunity to be seen, heard, and taken seriously. As a broadcaster, live-event presenter and mother of two, Karen brings both professional experience and a personal understanding of the many roles women navigate while pursuing their ambitions.
She is also passionate about representation, particularly encouraging young women to see possibilities beyond the circumstances in which they were raised.
With her interest in entertainment, fashion, and culture, Karen could bring a distinctly contemporary energy to Top Billing, one that reflects the audiences and stories shaping South Africa today.
Nehemiah Tjatji
The storyteller who knows both sides of the camera
Nehemiah Tjatji is no stranger to the entertainment industry. As a television presenter, creative producer, director, and entrepreneur, he has developed experience both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
Having lost his mother at a young age, Nehemiah found a sense of comfort and purpose in the performing arts. What began as a passion for storytelling grew into a career spanning community radio, television, acting, directing and production.
He has presented the SABC1 reality competition series Verified, alongside other work across entertainment and television production.
That combination of presenting and production experience could prove valuable in a competition where understanding a story is just as important as delivering it. Nehemiah brings an appreciation of the creative process, a love for people and an understanding of what it takes to translate an idea into something audiences can connect with.
His challenge will be to bring that experience together with the warmth, curiosity and versatility expected of a Top Billing presenter.
Ross Marshall
From football to the world of storytelling
Ross Marshall’s journey is one of reinvention, proving that sometimes the path towards your purpose takes an unexpected turn.
A former semi-professional footballer, Ross initially pursued opportunities in sport before finding a new direction in the performing arts and entertainment industry. Today, he works across presenting, acting, modelling and creative direction, while also serving as a youth mentor.
The loss of his father in 2023 became another defining chapter in his life, strengthening his commitment to honouring his family’s belief in him and pursuing the ambitions that matter to him.
Through his work as a corporate MC and podcast host, as well as his venture FortifiedZa, Ross has focused on leadership, entrepreneurship and empowering the next generation.
His varied experience gives him a platform from which to explore stories across different spaces, while his emphasis on human connection could be an important asset in a format built around people and their experiences.
For Ross, Top Billing represents another opportunity to turn his passion for communication into a platform with a wider reach.
MORE THAN A PRESENTER SEARCH
For decades, Top Billing has occupied a distinctive place in South African television, taking viewers inside remarkable homes, introducing them to influential personalities and exploring destinations and experiences that inspire audiences.
Its return to television in 2026 has brought renewed attention to the brand and the question of who will help carry its legacy forward.
The presenter search is an opportunity to introduce a new generation of talent to that world. But it also raises an interesting question about what audiences want from lifestyle television today.
A presenter needs more than a polished delivery. They need curiosity, adaptability, the ability to put people at ease, and an understanding of how to make a story resonate with viewers from different backgrounds.
The five finalists each arrive with their own experiences from sport and wellness to entrepreneurship, radio, television production, and youth empowerment. Their journeys are different, but their shared opportunity is to demonstrate how those experiences can translate into compelling television.
As the competition continues, viewers will be watching to see who can bring the right combination of personality, professionalism, and storytelling to the Top Billing screen.
Five finalists, five different journeys, and one opportunity to become the next Top Billing presenter.
