Grammy-Winning R&B Star NE-YO Announces South African Tour Dates

If there is one thing South Africans know how to do, it’s turn a concert into a full-blown sing-along. This October, fans will get the chance to do exactly that when R&B superstar NE-YO returns to South Africa as part of his international tour.

The three-time Grammy Award-winning artist is set to perform at the Grand Arena in Cape Town on Saturday, 17 October, before making his way to the SunBet Arena in Pretoria on Sunday, 18 October.

For many music lovers, NE-YO’s return is more than just another concert announcement. It is a chance to relive the soundtrack of an era. From heartbreak anthems to dancefloor favourites, his catalogue has become woven into the lives of fans across the globe.

Since bursting onto the scene with the chart-topping hit “So Sick” in 2005, NE-YO has built a career defined by timeless music and undeniable talent. The song reached the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and became a global sensation, paving the way for a string of hits including “Sexy Love,” “Because of You,” “Closer,” “Miss Independent,” and “Push Back.”

With more than 23 billion streams worldwide and a loyal South African fan base, audiences can expect an evening packed with nostalgia, energy, and unforgettable moments.

What many fans may not realise is that NE-YO’s impact extends far beyond the songs he performs himself. As a songwriter, he has helped shape some of music’s most memorable hits. His writing credits include Rihanna’s “Unfaithful,” “Russian Roulette,” and “Take a Bow,” as well as Beyoncé’s iconic breakup anthem “Irreplaceable.” His songwriting talents have also reached artists such as Jennifer Hudson, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Celine Dion, and Mario.

Beyond music, NE-YO has continued to expand his creative footprint through acting, appearing in productions such as “Empire,” “BMF,” “World of Dance,” “Dance Monsters,” “Stomp the Yard,” and “Red Tails.” His versatility has allowed him to remain relevant across multiple entertainment platforms while continuing to evolve as an artist.

Now, the singer is preparing for yet another chapter in his career with the upcoming release of his country-inspired album, “Highway 79,” scheduled to arrive on 10 July.

Speaking about bringing the artist back to local audiences, Vertex Events Executive Director Thato Segaole expressed excitement about the upcoming shows.

“Giving the audience a chance to experience a talented and respected artist such as NE-YO is a great pleasure for our team. We look forward to producing live shows of a great stature that will create endless talkability. Our vision to bring timeless music to the fans will once again happen with hard work, dedication, and precision, so get your tickets now”, he said.

For South African fans, October promises two nights of classic hits, powerful vocals, and the kind of music that instantly transports you back to a specific moment in time. If NE-YO’s previous performances are anything to go by, these shows are set to be among the most talked-about live events of the season.

Tickets will be available via Webtickets (www.webtickets.co.za) and at Pick’n Pay stores nationwide, with prices starting from R950. Gates open at 18:00 on all show days, giving attendees ample time to settle in ahead of the experience.
