“NDINIKE AMANDLA” POSITIONS THEMBINKOSI AT THE FOREFRONT OF CONTEMPORARY AFRO GOSPEL

Faith often becomes loudest when life gets quiet in all the wrong ways. In that tension, Thembinkosi introduces “NDINIKE AMANDLA,” a song that doesn’t try to escape struggle, but speaks directly to it.

The new Afro Gospel single arrives as part of his forthcoming project, Themba Inkosi, and feels less like a performance and more like an honest prayer from someone trying to stay grounded through life’s hardest moments.

Rooted in perseverance, truth and spiritual surrender, “NDINIKE AMANDLA” explores the emotional weight many people quietly carry every day. Instead of running from struggle, the song leans directly into it, transforming exhaustion into worship and vulnerability into strength.

“Ndinike Amandla Ndiqine, give me power to be firm. Ndinike Amandla Ndomelele, give me power to be strong,” Thembinkosi explains. “This song is about asking God for the strength to remain truthful, resilient, and devoted through every challenge life places before us.”

There’s a simplicity to the message that makes it land even harder. The repetition throughout the song feels intentional, almost meditative, like someone constantly reminding themselves not to give up.

Inspired by the realities and pressures of everyday life, the single focuses less on despair and more on endurance. Faith becomes the anchor, not as something performative, but as survival.

“The aim is to convey a message of hope and encourage resilience when confronting the challenges encountered in everyday life,” he says. “The song reminds people that even in difficult moments, there is strength in faith.”

Musically, the record blends Contemporary Gospel with vibrant Afro Gospel rhythms, creating a sound that feels both spiritually intimate and culturally rooted. Live instrumentation, textured harmonies and layered vocals give the song warmth and emotional depth, while still allowing Thembinkosi’s voice to remain the emotional centre of the record.

Produced by Mjakes Thebe, the song carries the richness of a live performance, something that becomes even more apparent in the arrangement and delivery. Rather than sounding overly polished or distant, the production allows emotion to breathe naturally through the music.

“My new single blends modern gospel with lively Afro Gospel rhythms,” Thembinkosi explains. “The live recording created a powerful anthem where the emotion and the music could exist naturally together.”

The emotional connection to the song also runs deeper than performance alone. Executive producer and composer Kapi Gantsu intentionally wrote “NDINIKE AMANDLA” with Thembinkosi’s voice and delivery in mind, creating a song built around sincerity rather than complexity.

“Kapi specifically wrote this song with my voice in mind,” Thembinkosi notes. “That made the connection to the message feel natural from the very beginning.”

More than just a standalone release, “NDINIKE AMANDLA” feels like the spiritual foundation of Themba Inkosi, a project centred around faith, surrender, healing and personal transformation. It also marks another important step in Thembinkosi’s evolution within the contemporary Gospel space, where honesty and emotional storytelling continue to shape his sound.

Ahead of the album’s release, listeners can expect a listening session in Gqeberha, alongside upcoming radio and television appearances. A nationwide city-to-city tour is also scheduled to begin in September 2026.
