KwaZulu-Natal–born Gqom duo The Incredibles step into a defining new chapter with the release of Through The Fire, a six-track debut EP that captures both the scale of their ambition and the depth of their commitment to a sound many had moved away from.

Built over the course of a year, Through The Fire does not simply sit within the current Gqom resurgence; it actively contributes to shaping its direction. The project arrives as both statement and structure, positioning the duo at the centre of the genre’s ongoing evolution.

Known for their melodic, vocal-driven approach to Gqom and their consistency through the genre’s quieter phases, The Incredibles carry that identity directly into this release. The EP also incorporates previously released single “Available”, which opens the project and provides an immediate point of familiarity before the body of work expands into more experimental and layered territory.

At its core, Through The Fire remains grounded in Gqom, but stretches its definition. The duo describes their approach as “new age Gqom, made in our own way and direction,” a philosophy reflected in the integration of Bacardi-inspired rhythms, rap textures, and melodic songwriting structures within a percussive framework.

“The idea was to push boundaries without losing the essence,” they explain. “We wanted to show that Gqom can evolve in different ways while still feeling authentic.”

The project is shaped by a collaborative but controlled creative process. While featured artists contribute distinct energy across the EP, Tyson and Adam maintain a clear executive vision, ensuring cohesion across all six tracks.

“The synergy of the featured artists was important,” they note. “A lot of the songs came together quickly, but everything connected naturally. That energy carried through into the final versions.”

Rather than following a traditional narrative arc, Through The Fire is designed as an immersive experience. It introduces listeners to a broader sonic world where identity, rhythm, and expression intersect, positioning the EP as both introduction and foundation.

“This is a project that everyone from different places can listen to,” they state. “We’re not just building a fan base; we’re building an Incredible Family.”

The release also signals the beginning of a wider rollout, with plans underway for a supporting tour, merchandise line, and curated events designed to extend the EP beyond music into culture and experience.

The origins of the project trace back to a simple but defining intention to create the sound they felt was missing. That pursuit continues to shape their identity as they move forward.

“We wanted to create the Gqom we felt was missing,” they reflect. “This EP is part of that process, and it’s also the start of something bigger.”
