SAFTAs 19 TO BROADCAST ON SABC2, CELEBRATING SOUTH AFRICA’S FILM AND TELEVISION ROYALTY

SABC2 has announced that the 2026 edition of the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) will broadcast on Saturday, 14 March 2026. The evening will begin with the Gold Carpet at 19:30, followed by the main awards ceremony at 20:00.

South African television presenter, radio personality, producer, businesswoman, and author Anele Mgudlwa will take to the stage as host alongside content creator, comedian, and television personality Sipho ‘Alphi’ Mkhwanazi, bringing their signature energy to the main show.

Guiding viewers through the glamour and excitement of the Gold Carpet will be television personalities Katleho Sinivasan and Pamela Mtanga, who will conduct interviews with nominees and guests while capturing the behind-the-scenes moments from the 19th edition of the awards.

The SAFTAs remain one of South Africa’s most important celebrations of film and television, honouring the storytellers whose creativity, resilience, and vision continue to shape the country’s entertainment landscape. SAFTAs 19 celebrates South Africa’s rich screen legacy by recognising excellence across genres, languages, and platforms, while bringing together industry professionals from different generations and disciplines.

 

The Craft Awards, which celebrate the technical brilliance behind the screen, will be hosted by entertainment broadcasters Moshe Ndiki and Elana Afrika‑Bredenkamp. The ceremony will broadcast on SABC2 on Friday, 20 March 2026 at 21:30.

Viewers can expect a jam-packed celebration of South African storytelling on Saturday, 14 March 2026, from 19:30, and the Craft Awards broadcast on Friday, 20 March 2026, at 21:30, as the industry marks 19 years of the South African Film and Television Awards.
