eVOD’S NEW DRAMA BOGADITŠONG TURNS MUSIC, POLYGAMY AND FAMILY BETRAYAL INTO A DANGEROUS GAME OF POWER

There is something deeply dangerous about mixing music, family, ambition, and power in the same room. Secrets become currency, love becomes transactional, and loyalty rarely survives fame untouched. That emotional chaos sits at the centre of Bogaditšong, the gripping new Sepedi-language multi-generational drama set to premiere exclusively on eVOD on 12 June.

Set against the ruthless backdrop of the South African music industry, Bogaditšong follows the rise and collapse of the powerful Matlou dynasty, a family whose legacy is built on fame, manipulation, betrayal, and survival. At the centre of the story are The Bright Sisters, a once-celebrated female music trio whose success remains permanently haunted by the betrayal of their husband and group founder, Titus Matlou.

Leading the series is Saint Seseli as Titus Matlou, the manipulative music mogul and polygamist whose control over the women in his life shapes the emotional and psychological tension of the story. Bound together through marriage, music, and power, each wife exists within a deeply fractured dynamic that threatens to unravel at any moment.

Tsholofelo Matshaba stars as Manto Matlou, the calculating first wife whose influence quietly controls the household from behind the scenes. Motsoaledi Setumo takes on the role of Tshepang Matlou, the overlooked second wife trapped in a dangerous affair within her own marital home, while Rorisang Mohapi plays Precious Matlou, the ambitious and attention-hungry younger wife willing to do almost anything to secure her place in the spotlight.

The drama also stars Shoki Mmola as Puseletso, one of the original Bright Sisters and mother to Titus’ heir, King, played by Wiseman Zitha. Together, the cast builds a world driven by emotional warfare, generational conflict, and the brutal realities of maintaining power inside both a family and a music empire.

What immediately makes Bogaditšong stand out is its cultural grounding. Told predominantly in Sepedi, the series embraces language, music, and storytelling rooted in South African identity while exploring universal themes of betrayal, legacy, love, redemption, and survival. The result feels emotionally authentic and culturally intentional, offering audiences a story that feels both intimate and expansive at the same time.

The series is brought to life by Reserved Projects, a production company already respected within the industry for its contributions to post-production across several popular South African productions. With Bogaditšong, the company steps boldly into original storytelling.

“Producing Bogaditšong as our very first original series is both a proud and defining moment for Reserved Projects. We wanted to tell a story that feels unapologetically African, emotionally honest, and deeply rooted in the realities of family, music, power, and ambition. Through Bogaditšong, we are not only introducing audiences to a gripping drama but also showcasing the richness of Sepedi storytelling and the incredible talent that exists within our industry. Partnering with eVOD on this journey has given us the opportunity to bring a fresh and culturally authentic narrative to screens across South Africa,” said Wayne Hutomo, Executive Producer at Reserved Projects.

“Bogaditšong is a bold and emotionally rich story that speaks to the complexities of family, identity, and legacy within a uniquely South African context,” said Helga Palmer, Group Head of Content Development and Strategy at eMedia. “We are proud to bring audiences a powerful Sepedi-language drama that celebrates authentic local storytelling while delivering compelling performances, music, and unforgettable drama.”

Beyond the betrayal, glamour, and emotional destruction, Bogaditšong feels like a reflection of what happens when legacy becomes more important than humanity. It is dramatic, emotionally layered, and rooted in the kind of storytelling that understands how deeply power can shape relationships.

Viewers can stream Bogaditšong exclusively on eVOD from 12 June.
